Our elegant paper cup

Kia Ora. In Te Ngahere we had a STEAM Challenge. This STEAM Challenge is called the Paper Cup Challenge. Before we started the challenge we were separated into groups by numbers. We were group 12 and I was with Alana. We were the only group with only two team members. Our main goal of this challenge is to make a cup that held water without leaking, our second goal is to work as a team collaboratively.

If you have a chance to design a paper cup, what would your paper cup looks like?

Shadow of amazingness

Kia Ora. In Te Ngahere last week we’ve been doing a task master challenge. This taskmaster challenge is called the shadow of amazingness, we have to make shadow that will impress the taskmaster. First we have to get into groups and there is no limit for the group. We had 6 people in our group and they were Jacob, Mikaira, Cahlay, Chainberlin, Luke and I. We only had 5 minutes for preparing our shadows and each of us could only use one item. Our first idea was a motorbike but we thought that it was not possible for 6 people to make a motorbike. After that we still didn’t get an idea down so we just had a little brainstorm. At the end we all decided to do a art gallery. In our art gallery we have the statue of thinker, the statue of liberty, the American Gothic, mona lisa and the superman. After that we have to do a slam for the taskmaster so we could win the challenge. Unfortunately I was attending another event so I didn’t so this slam but I still want to thank our teammate for getting us to second place in the challenge. One of the things I thought hard was making up an idea but one thing I thought easy was staying still to take the photos.

If you have this challenge, what shadow would you make?

Paihia School Film Festival

Kia Ora In Paihia School we had a film festival. This film festival were our first film festival ever but unfortunately I didn’t make a movie because I was on a holiday. This years movie topic was about New Zealand history. I enjoyed so much watching the movies and my favourite one was “Back to the dawn raid” which was made by my friends Jacob, Cahlay and Henry. In this event I learnt a lot history about New Zealand history. For example, like people thought Japan will bomb Northland-New Zealand but they actually bombed us with flower bags.

What is your favourite movie?

Fantastic E-Symposium

Kia Ora In Te Ngahere my friend/buddy Jacob and I joined an event called E-Symposium presentation, E-Symposium presentation is an event where different students from different schools joined a google meeting and introducing tool to other schools. Our app was Groove Pizza and the schools involved were Tautoro, Ohaeawai and Kawakawa primary.. After that we have to make a copy of a blog post slide and answer the question. One thing we found hard was writing and creating our slide and script for our E Symposium presentation and one thing I enjoyed was making up my music rhymes. I would like to thank my teacher-Whaea Healen for introducing this website/app to us and supporting us in our presentation.

Have you ever used Groove Pizza before?
If you haven’t used it before, check out the link-

Movie Making #2

Kia Ora. In Te Ngahere we’ve been making movies, this time we made a quick cut montage movie. A montage movie is a movie that has sped up movement and made the movie a bit funny. The movie we recreated is the scene from Scott Pilgrim getting ready. The shot we used this time was mainly close ups or mid shots. Our movie is called “Gotta go fast” which as about two students racing to sign in to the chromebook and the funny part of our movie is that he took a long time to load and at the end it says wrong password. One thing I thought was hard was to edit our movie because we need to find some sound effect to make our movie more funny. One thing I found easy was to make up our story. If I did this again I would change our story because this story is too used by other people.

What’s your favorite movie; and why was that your favourite movie?

Movie Making

Kia Ora. Last week in Te Ngahere we’ve been making movies . In movie making we have to make a movie about the Ricky Baker dance movement. Also we have been learning about filming using different shots, like long shot, mid shot, over shoulder shot and close up shot… The 3 main shots are long shot, mid shot and close up shot, long shot is a shot where you take a shot of the scene, mid shot is a a shot where you waist up shot of one or two characters and close up shot is a Neck up shot of one character. After we filmed our video we have to edit it into a movie. We had to mute the video then add a music to it, the reason we choose that music was because it sounded relaxed and the second reason was because it suited the movement in our movie. We also got a chance to change our format, we choose a comic format because it looks cool. I was the filmer in our movie, one thing I thought was hard was to film in different shots. One thing I enjoyed was watching the movie that we made.
