Kia Ora, In Te Ngahere we have been learning about tectonic plates. We have been watching some videos about the structure of earth. I learnt that earth is made of 4 layers: Inner core, Outer core, Mantle and the Crust. Of course, we have been learning about the tectonic plates too. Tectonic plates are the rocky section that made up the crust. Tectonic plates can move around on the softer mantle underneath them, it moves around 1~10 CM every year. Infact, 250 million years ago earth was one large landmass called Pangaea. Also we have been learning about the movement of tectonic plates. There are 3 ways that tectonic plates moves: Convergent, Transform and Divergent. We have to create something to describe the movement of the tectonic plates.
