MATH DLO!!!!

Kia Ora. I have made a DLO(Digital learning object) about what I have been learning in Math Algebra. The DLO will teach you about, imaginary numbers, complex numbers and how to factor polynomials. Check it out and feel free to give some feedback or compliments.

Want Relief

Kia Ora. In Te Ngahere we have been learning to identify the main themes in the story and provide examples from the text to support my ideas. We have also learnt to describe how characters respond to challenges and discuss how their actions contribute to the theme of survival. We have read a text called Want relief, it’s a story about castaways from a shipwreck. We have been working on some questions about the text and one of the tasks was to write a diary entry from one of the character’s point of view. One thing I found challenging was to think of ideas for the diary. If I get a chance to do it again, I would read the instructions more carefully and stop rushing.

Here is my response to text:

LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE

Kia Ora. In Te Ngahere we have been learning to identify the main idea and different point of views of the text, understanding how author have used language to make things funny. We have been reading a text called Like, Share, Subscribe. The text is about the story of two kids: Jake and Emma, who called a family meeting. They tried to convince their parents to use social media healthily. We have been working on some response to text and one of the task was to create something to promote healthy use of social media. I think did a pretty good job at the information I had on my poster. If I get a chance to do it again, I would try another way to promote healthy use of social media instead of a poster.

Here is my poster:

Music time!!!

Kia Ora. In Te Ngahere we have been learning to write and perform music rhythms. We have been learning about half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes. We have used Takadimi syllables-Ta, Ta-di and Ta-ka-di-mi to create our rhythm. We got into groups and every group got a chance to perform their rhythm. After that, we have been learning to perform our rhythm with different “instrument” around us; such as  plastic bags, bread bags and book boxes… In our groups, everyone had to create a different rhythm and performed in different instrument. I think we did a pretty good job at how we started and how we ended with our music rhythm. We both came in at the same time and we ended in the same time too. If I get a chance to perform again, I would change the instrument that I was using because it sounded similar with other instruments.

What’s your favourite type of music?

Movie Making

Kia Ora. In Paihia School, we have been making movies for a film festival. Our movie is called “Napping Handsome”. It’s about a story of a Knight and a Princess trying to rescue the “Napping Prince” from the evil witch. For our movie, I think we did a pretty good job at our script and the outfits we had was pretty realistic. Next time, I think we could of done a better job at our acting. For some of our part, I think we needed a bit more of expressions. One thing we found difficult was to edit our movie. The limit of time for the movie was 3 minutes, but our movie was about 5 minutes long! So, we had to delete and speed up some parts of the movie.

Have you ever made a movie before?

Plastic Planet

Kia Ora. In Te Ngahere for reading, we have been learning to identify author purpose and message in the text. We have been reading a poem called “Plastic planet”. The author’s purpose for writing this poem was to trying to tell us to think deeply of using plastics and we are relying on plastics. Also we had some different roles and statement for us to work on. One of the statement was “plastic is an essential part of modern life and we can’t live without it.”

I think I did a pretty good job at my role and next time I will try to be a different roles and give out more statements.

Do you agree that lastic is an essential part of modern life and we can’t live without it?

Silk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kia Ora, Today is the last session of the E-Symposium event. I learned what the tool Silk is and I learned how to create a mesmerizing patterns on Silk. The fun part of this activity was to design and play around with this tool. The challenge was you have to fit your design in a limited space. Also, it was challenging when we were trying to make a straight line or a curve. This tool would be useful when we are creating arts or patterns. Also this tool might be useful when we are creating snowflakes. The presenters did a great job, they helped us to learn by telling us what to do and what each button does. Also it was really helpful when they showed us live. If I were running this toolkit, I would change anything because it was perfect.

Here is the masterpiece I created.

Mystery Picture

I learned how to create a mystery picture on google sheet and how to use Imagy.app.The fun part of this activity was to find and design a mystery. The challenge was you have to split the image you want and insert to the Google sheet. Also it was challenging where you have to code the image to make up the questions. This tool might be useful when you are creating a mystery for anything. The presenters were really helpful. They helped us to learn by showing us how to create a mystery step by step with videos. Also they set up a template for us to have a go on. If I were running this toolkit, I wouldn’t change anything.

Animation

Kia Ora. For E-Symposium, We have been learning how to use Animate. learned how to record on Google slide without using other apps. The fun part of this activity was creating your own character and animate it. The challenge for me was to think of an idea. This tool might be useful when we are creating animations. They showed us how to use it and gave us examples. If I were running this toolkit, I wouldn’t change anything.

Canva

Kia Ora. For E-Sypmposium, we have been learning how to use Canva. I learned how to create a poster on Canva. The fun part of this activity was designing my post. The challenge was to think of an idea for my post. This tool might be useful when we are making a DLO or presentation… The presenter helped us by showing us how to use this tool live. If I were running this toolkit, I would show the audience other different templates.
